I am an ally...for everyone:
One of the most essential elements of an inclusive workplace is for everyone to behave as an ally for everyone else. Allyship does not require you to understand everything about every other diversity element. However, it does require you to respect the uniqueness of each diversity element and commit yourself to do no harm (at a minimum) and ideally learn how to demonstrate respect for each area of difference. For example, people might ask ‘what does SOGIE stand for? SOGIE is an acronym for sexualorientation, gender identity and expression which is the currently evolution of ‘LGBTQIA+.’ Demonstrating respect requires using new language as our understanding evolves.
